Race day entries - mobile phone required

You can register on Sunday morning from 7:15am. To sign up, you will need your mobile phone to scan the QR code and complete an online form and payment.


Swim race rules and conditions

  1. Swimmers physical condition will be their own responsibility and all participants are encouraged to train in preparation for this event.

  2. The minimum entry age is 9 years for the 500m swim, 10 years for the 1km swim and 12 years for the 2.1km swim. All competitors under the age of 18 will need parental consent to participate.

  3. All swimmers must swim the prescribed course and ensure that their name is marked off the official entrants register at the conclusion of the Bondi Blue Water Challenge even if they do not complete the course.

  4. Swimmers must swim in the age category for which they are eligible.

  5. All swimmers must wear their prescribed cap, race number and timing device.

  6. Swimmers must wear only conventional swimming costumes made from lycra and/or polyester. Costumes must contain no neoprene or any other ‘high tech’ material or substance or any material with any flotation support. Male swimmers must wear only briefs or jammers with no arms, full legs or any part of the costume covering their body above the waist. Female swimmers must wear either one- or two-piece costumes with no arms or full legs. Full-body modesty suits are allowed.

  7. Swimmers who choose to wear non-conventional (i.e. technical or floatation) swimming costumes will not be eligible for any prize or qualify as an official place getter.

  8. A swimmer may use extraneous aids such as flippers, snorkels, floatation clothing or devices but will not be eligible for any prize or qualify as an official place getter.

  9. All swimmers must behave in a fair and sportsmanlike manner without interference or aggression towards other competitors and any breach of this rule may result in disqualification from the Bondi Blue Water Challenge.

  10. If in the opinion of an event medical officer or a water safety official a competitor is physically or otherwise incapable of starting or completing the Bondi Blue Water Challenge or has been in the water for an inordinate time such competitor may be disqualified from starting or be removed from the water at any time.

  11. There will be safety craft patrolling the course. Signal them if you need any assistance. Your safety is our priority.

  12. The race committee may alter the course due to weather or surf conditions to ensure the safety of race participants and water safety personnel.

  13. All participants must follow the instructions of the race committee, water safety personnel or lifeguards.

  14. All decisions of the race committee will be considered absolute and final.

Beach run race rules 

  1. The minimum entry age is 10 years. All competitors under the age of 18 will need parental consent to participate.

  2. All runners must run the prescribed course and ensure that their name is marked off the official entrants register at the conclusion of the Bondi Blue Water Challenge even if they do not complete the course.

  3. All runners must behave in a fair and sportsmanlike manner without interference or aggression towards other competitors and any breach of this rule may result in disqualification from the Bondi Blue Water Challenge.

  4. All decisions of the race committee will be considered absolute and final.

Risk Warning (Section 5M Civil Liability Act 2002)

Warning is given to all Entrants in the Bondi Blue Water Challenge that there is the risk of harm to their person and/or property arising from any inadequacy of physical condition or stamina to complete the swim, hazardous sea and beach conditions including sea currents and waves and the presence of sea craft and sea creatures and other hazards.

Agreement Waiver and Indemnity

The Entrant/Parent/Guardian of the Entrant named overleaf in consideration of the acceptance by Bondi Surf Bathers’ Life Saving Club (“the Club”) of my entry in the Bondi Blue Water Challenge (“the Bondi Challenge”) consent and agree:

  1. To receive such medical or other treatment, which may be deemed to be advisable by the Club, its medical and first aid assistants, beach or water safety patrol personnel in the event of injury accident and/or illness during the Bondi Challenge.

  2. To accept full responsibility to inform myself/ourselves and assess all the dangers hazards and risks of entry in the Bondi Challenge and rely/relies solely on my/our own assessment of these dangers, hazards and risks before participating in the Bondi Challenge and notwithstanding any decision thereon made by the Club and other persons corporations and bodies involved engaged in promoting or staging the Bondi Challenge (“the Organisers”).

  3. To permit free use by the Club and the Organisers of my/our name and photograph in any broadcast, telecast or other media as may pertain to the Bondi Challenge.

  4. To have sole responsibility for my/their/our personal possessions and equipment during the Bondi Challenge.

  5. That in the event of cancellation of the Bondi Challenge my/their entry fee shall not be refundable by the Club and the Swim will not be re-run.

  6. That as a person to whom recreational services are supplied by the organizers, it is a term of my entry that I engage in the recreational activity of the Bondi Challenge at my own risk.

  7. That the terms and conditions contained in this entry form shall be construed broadly to provide a release, indemnity and waiver to the Organisers of any liability for loss injury or other damage to personal property to the maximum extent permitted by law and shall be construed according to the law of New South Wales.
